There are many Square patterns. This will be the first of a series of square patterns I will share here.
The square patterns are very versatile. They are widely used in making Granny Square for blankets, cushion covers, cardigans, placemats, dishcloths, tablecloths, shawls, coasters, just to name a few.
You can be creative by mixing in colors. One-color for each row, or one patch, one color. The combination is endless.

The stitches are:
- chaining
- single crochet
- double crochet
Foundation: make a circle. Chain 5 then close the loop or make a magic circle.
Row 1- chain 3, 3 dc into circle, * chain 3, 4 dc into circle *, repeat from * to * 2 more times, sl st to the first chain.
Row 2 – chain 3, 5 dc, * chain 3, 8 dc *, repeat from * to * 2 more times, chain 3, 2 dc, join to the beginning of row with a sl st.
Row 3 – chain 3, 7 dc, * chain 3, 12 dc *, repeat from * to * 2 more times, chain 3, 4 dc, join to the beginning of row with a sl st.
Row 4 – chain 3, 9 dc, * chain 3, 16 dc *, repeat * to * 2 more time, chain 3, 6 dc, join to the beginning of row with a sl st.
You can continue with the steps to make a bigger project like a blanket.
